And so, I fell in love with a colour—in this case, the colour blue—as if falling under a spell, a spell I fought to stay under and get out from under, in turns.
~ Maggie Nelson ~
Like Maggie Nelson, I have fallen in love with the colour blue. This is less of a confession as it is a statement, but I cannot escape how exposing it feels to say. Like Adele, in the movie, Blue is the Warmest Colour, I have fallen in love with women. This is less of a confession as it is a statement, but I cannot escape how exposing it feels to say.
Blue is a homage. To distance. To transformation. To pangs of happiness. To the sound sculpture in Seyðisfjörður. To the voices it held resonant. To the mountains which were moved. To butterflies.
I was blessed to watch from the periphery two beautiful souls so magically connected - meet. Erica and Gudbjørg (aka The Blueberries) at the sound sculpture in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland.
35mm film, 2017.
